"Meisen" Kimono, Vintage 1920s

Vintage Kimono made of silk using the "Meisen" technique,

The main characteristic of meisen is its exterior decoration made from pre-dyed threads. When the fabric is subsequently woven, the surface decoration appears like a painting, with soft edges.

This one dates back to the 1920s; its sleeves, longer than usual for kimonos (non-Furisodes), are a characteristic of that era.
